WebNames.ca

WebNames.ca is a Canadian-based domain registrar that also offers hosting, SSL, and e-mail. In terms of usability, WebNames.ca is not very user-friendly. It is certainly functional in terms of the tools offered but there is a learning curve when it comes to their control panel and even the support section of their site makes it difficult to navigate to various pages that could potential offer some help.

Bulk domain registration and management is fine at WebNames.ca but only if you intend to register and manage 50 domains or fewer. There is a bulk registration tool but it is limited to only 50 names while many comparable sites offer up to 500 at a time. In addition, their bulk tools only allow you to make changes to up to 50 domains at once. There are minor discounts for registering bulk domains, though.

Pricing at WebNames.com is fairly straightforward except for their occasional promotions and contests. Most TLDs cost $13 per year to register but some are as much as $110 per year depending upon the desired extension. Private domain registration is offered for $10 per domain per year which is a bit high considering their already slightly expensive registration fee. Promotions and contests seem to occur at random.

Advanced DNS management is available for an addition $5 per domain per year and it is absolutely vital that you add it on if you plan to use WebNames.ca. This service allows you to fully customize the interface, manage access levels and delegating, reporting, compatibility, and much more. The service is good but it is not an intuitive interface and takes some time to master.

One thing I like about WebNames.ca is that with every domain registration you do get some beneficial free services which include: domain forwarding, domain gripping, e-mail channeling, parking options, and metatag tools. This site includes some decent hosting options and SSL certificates as well. They also have a nice program for TBR or to be released domain names.
