Domainnameshop

DomainNameShop.com is a Scandinavian-based domain registrar. They offer a full menu of products and services in relation to domain registration but they are a bit more expensive than comparable sites. In addition, their control panel can be somewhat hard to get used to. However, with some practice, Domain Name Shop’s interface is certainly effective.

One thing that Domain Name Shop is lacking is private domain registration which means that anyone searching the WHOIS database will be able to find private contact information. This is unfortunate since most registrars now offer a private registration service. Something that they do well at Domain Name Shop, though, is bulk registration. There is a tool to register up to 500 domains at once.

Pricing can be a bit complicated at Domain Name Shop. While they are one of the few registrars to offer bulk discounts with just five or more registrations, they also charge more for each year of registration after the first year. For instance, a .mobi registration fee for the first year is 9.95 euros but then each addition year it is 14.95 euros. This makes the pricing a bit confusing and inconvenient.

As I previously mentioned, the control panel takes some getting used to because the interface operates directly through their website is not what I would consider intuitive. However, bulk management including access levels and delegating is made easy once you get used to navigation around the control panel. DNS records are fairly easy to access and manage and full DNS control is available for 9.95 euros per year.

One thing that I like about Domain Name Shop is that they offer a “web hotel” section that has multiple packages you can choose to add on to a domain registration. The packages include things like varying disk space, number of e-mail addresses, forwarding, subdomains, etc. Each one is priced differently but spelled out clearly and easily for members to utilize as they see fit.

Domain Name Shop also has a lengthy list of expired domains that is updated every day which is a nice reference place to start if you plan to register bulk domains for the purpose of making money. Overall, though, I think there are far better registrars out there. Domain Name Shop is a bit more expensive, lacks private registration, and does not have a user-friendly interface. For these reasons, I would recommend skipping it and trying another registrar.
