CentralNic

CentralNic is a domain registrar that specializes in TLDs. While they have advanced DNS management services there is something to be desired in terms of the ease of use. The interface is not ideal and the support that is offered is minimal. In terms of functionality, CentralNic offers all the necessities but it is by no means user-friendly.

Features such as private and bulk registration are available at CentralNic. Private domain registration included within the price of the registration. Bulk registration is fairly straightforward but only if you want to register multiple extensions. Different keywords need to be registered separately which is slightly inconvenient.

Domain management is one thing that is done well at CentralNic. Full access to DNS management as well as consulting services are included in the price of a domain registration. This makes managing bulk domains free and convenient but as I mentioned before the interface takes some getting used to.

Access levels and delegating are also made easy. The consulting services walks new users through the process of delegating tasks to other administrators or technical users. In addition, e-mail is offered through Envoi which is a great way to obtain a unique and often impressive e-mail address at a fairly low cost.

Prices are high at CentralNic but it is important to note that the listed prices are in pounds. It is nice that they have the conversion rate into Euros and US Dollars so you can see exactly what you are paying. Also, the price is for two years so you remain locked in. Domains are generally around $51 for two years which is quite high.

One nice thing about CentralNic is that they are conscious of those who are using the internet for illegal or malicious behavior. They make it clear that they will stand by their morality and remove a domain that is being used for these purposes. I also think they have an excellent explanation of their DNS infrastructure.

The only things that I really do not like about CentralNic are their lack of hosting offers and their prices. Many comparable registrars charge far less money. In addition, I prefer a one-stop when it comes to domain registrars and that is not an option at CentralNic because they offer no hosting.

Overall, this is a nice choice if you are looking for unique TLDs but otherwise there are better options out there.
