Alpine Domains

Alpine Domains site had the best balance between simplicity and aesthetic. There was very little information on the homepage except for the bare necessities. The page was very clean, crisp, and looked well designed. When searching for a domain it populated a list very quickly. There were only .org, .net and .com available no .biz etc. I appreciated the simplicity but could have found more options useful.

Alpine Domains had the most comprehensive security options available I have seen with any other registrars. The site took me directly to a page where I could choose from four different security options. Each with a brief explanation and corresponding price. I found their security options easy to understand and competitively priced. I appreciated the variety of options as security is important in any online venture.

The site advertised that it had bulk transfers available at low rates. However, the prices were not accessible without an account. The account could be created in 10 seconds but without it prices could not be seen. For me, not being able to see the prices was a little off putting. I would like to know what I'm getting into monetarily before I create an account. I would expect the same thought process from anyone else looking to start a cost effective site. I did appreciate that free ad ons were included with each domain name. I could see how this could be an alluring incentive and valuable feature if registering in bulk.

The pricing with Alpine Domains was a bit higher then what I've seen with other registrars. I also thought with multiple year registrations the price should be discounted. With Alpine Domains you simply pay the same price no matter how many years you register the domain. I think a long term commitment should be rewarded with a discount. It would provide incentive to register long term. I also though there should be a slight discount for transferring domains to Alpine Domains. Having already paid for one site, it would be a nice incentive for registering with Alpine Domain, knowing that all of your domains you've already paid for could be moved at a discounted price.

The only downside I found with Alpine Domains was it's pricing. Although they were clear with their pricing I thought transfers, and bulk registrations could be slightly discounted to provide incentive. Overall the site looked to be very usable, clean, and appeared professional.
